I hate peeling oranges. Really. Monica and the kids enjoy oranges and they do taste good. But, I hate getting them to the point of putting it in my mouth.
First, hate peeling oranges because peeling oranges is a messy process. From the time my finger nail dig into the peeling and embed into my fingernail; it is a mess. For the record, I don’t even go that far when my children bring me an orange. I say; “Please, can you get an apple?” I’m a horrible parent, I know. But, if I am going to go through that mess—I better be eating it myself. As I peel the oranges, I inevitably break into the juicy part of the orange and the juice runs down my fingers. What a mess! And, I know there are some other ideas about using a knife on YouTube; but, honestly, if I need to have a YouTube video to teach me how to eat an orange…there is a problem.
The second reason that I hate peeling oranges is because it takes too long! I know that peeling an orange for two or three minutes doesn’t sound like much—but, really, if I want a snack, I don’t want to have to prepare it. And, furthermore, I certainly don’t want to wait until it’s peeled. If I eat an orange every day, like my kids do, that is 21 minutes a week of peeling oranges. That also turns into 18.25 hours a year. For what? An orange. This reality becomes much more real when the orange is smaller. Don’t waste your life peeling oranges.
In conclusion, I hate peeling oranges. Oranges taste good and they are healthy but I’ll save the mess and the time, and if I’m lucky…Monica will peel it for me.
